In April 2007, Dallas attorney, Nuru Witherspoon complained to the media and others
about Judge Keis in an attempt to bring discredit on Judge Keis.  Mr.Witherspoon’s credibility was an important factor in his complaint.

In September 2009,  the following was published in Vol. 72, No 8 at page 711 of
The Texas Bar Journal
about Nuru Witherspoon.

On June 23, Nuru Witherspoon [#24039244], 32 of Dallas, received a
public reprimand.  An evidentiary panel of the District 6-A  Grievance Committee found that Witherspoon failed to keep the complainant reasonably informed about the status of his personal injury case and promptly respond to his request for information.  Witherspoon also failed to provide the complainant with a written statement describing the outcome of his settlement.  Furthermore, Witherspoon failed to promptly deliver funds from the settlement to the complainant’s third-party medical provider.
          Witherspoon violated Rules 1.03 (a), 1.04 (d) and 1.14 (b).  He was ordered to pay $1,500 in attorney’s fees.
